Focal Utopia On-Ear Headphones (2022)

First launched in 2016, Focal's Utopia headphones are among the best headphones in the world. The French brand, which cherishes continuous development and has a unique know-how in acoustics, has given its iconic product a new design while adding acoustic improvements; the most important are the new voice coil and M-shaped grilles inside the ear cups. All the successful top technologies of Utopia headphones can still be found in this new edition, which brings a sensational listening experience even more refined and stylish.

A new look and renewed design

The design of the new Utopia is a combination of moderation and distinctiveness. Following the aesthetics of Focal's latest open (Clear Mg) and closed (Stellia, Celestee) headphones, the honeycomb grille on both the outside and inside of the ear cups gives a unique and remarkable look.

In addition to the black chrome rings - which are now attached on the inside for an even cleaner look - these headphones adopt new design codes that will also be used on Focal's future Utopia products. Among them, the "Yin & Yang" that appears on the ear cups symbolizes the perfect balance between design and technology that these French high-end headphones embody, as well as the black and red double grille of the Elements motor unit.

Focal's best technologies

Focal's engineers continue to strive for perfection in all their creations, starting a new chapter in the history of these iconic headphones. The key improvement is a new voice coil, which consists of copper - to improve reliability - and aluminum - to increase lightness. This metal alloy offers a fresh character to the sound, which gives an even more neutral and powerful bass and a softer treble. In addition, the grilles inside the ear cups are now M-shaped, following the curve of the elements for improved linearity and increased accuracy.

In addition to these innovations, the new Utopia headphones still have everything that made the first editions so successful, such as full-band elements with pure beryllium, an M-shaped dome and a completely open back, guaranteeing an amazingly authentic listening experience full of neutrality, dynamics and transparency. Focal's exclusive patented elements operate without active or passive correction from 5 Hz to over 50 kHz. The headphones seem to disappear completely, and what remains is an authentic reproduction of the audio signal, which is unparalleled in its purity.

Premium materials dedicated to sound and comfort

Utopia is made of first-class refined materials. The new, forged, recycled carbon forks are elegant and feel good, while making the headphones lighter and distributing their weight more evenly. The genuine leather headband and perforated memory foam ear cups offer unparalleled comfort and softness. And finally, exceptional headphones deserve top-of-the-line accessories: Utopia comes in a leatherette package with a black thermoformed fabric carrying case and two high-fidelity cables (lengths 3m and 1.5m) with which the headphones can be used at home with a larger amplifier or for mobile use. Lemo® connectors and an adapter complete the whole.
