• The popularity of active speakers is increasing year by year and for good reason. A pair of active speakers is often an easy solution for home sound reproduction. The biggest benefit is that often even a compact sized speaker produces a big sound, because the internal amplifier(s) is optimized for this case and elements.
• An active speaker means that the speaker has a built-in amplifier, so it does not need a separate amplifier. Of course, a preamplifier is often used in order to connect several sound sources at the same time and adjust the volume.
• Some of the new active speakers nowadays also have several inputs, and some of the active speakers can be used to stream music from phones or tablets.
• An active speaker requires electricity, which means that the active speaker always has an electric cable and a signal cable (unless the signal is sent wirelessly).
