Thanks to new HXDT driver technology, our flagship ATH-ADX7000 Open-Air headphones deliver the most natural, open and comfortable listening experience ever achieved in an Audio-Technica open-air headphone.
The bass response is exceptionally rich and powerful for open headphones – punchy, yet precisely controlled. In the midrange, subtle details stand out naturally and with astonishing clarity, bringing instruments to life and creating an excellent sense of space and precise placement within the soundstage. The upper midrange and treble are balanced: spacious and refined, but without sharpness or softness. The end result is an intimate presence for vocals, and transients are reproduced with natural realism.
This natural, full-range sound is achieved by controlling every step of the driver’s manufacturing process, from design and construction to final integration. Our HXDT molding process produces a 58mm diaphragm with extreme roundness – the precision necessary to achieve the finest musical expression. We combine the diaphragm with the other components of the driver (mounting plate, magnet and voice coil) by centering them with exceptional precision. This precise alignment enhances the transfer of energy from the magnet to the coil and ultimately to the diaphragm, which in turn is allowed to move more freely and in a more controlled manner.
The ear cups are made of lightweight aluminum and feature a honeycomb-like open structure for optimal ventilation. Airflow to the diaphragm is improved by precisely positioning the driver in the housing using our unique Core Mount technology. The combination of HXDT technology and Open-Air construction ensures that sound can travel unhindered directly from the diaphragm – resulting in more accurate, dynamic and detailed reproduction.
The ATH-ADX7000 comes with two pairs of interchangeable ear cushions: dense velvet and Alcantara. The dense velvet material dampens unwanted resonances and provides a balanced sound. Alcantara is a luxurious and durable option that adds weight to the bass and softens the treble.
The frame is made of a thin, rigid magnesium alloy, which adds strength and stability to the structure while keeping the headphones extremely lightweight (275g with velvet cushions, 265g with Alcantara cushions). The magnesium frame also helps to dampen micro-vibrations produced by the high-performance voice coil, reducing coloration and improving sound purity. The end result is excellent wearing comfort and uncompromising sound quality.
Two detachable, nylon-braided 3.0 m (9.8') cables with A2DC connectors for headphones are included: a balanced cable with a 4-pin XLRM connector and a 6.3 mm gold-plated stereo plug for single-drive systems. Each pair of headphones is individually laser-engraved with a serial number and comes in a compact hard carrying case.
