Cambridge Audio Alva Solo
Excellent quality MM preamplifier for record player.
The models that preceded Solo (e.g. 551P and CP1) enjoyed an outright cult reputation among vinyl enthusiasts. Solo is even smarter than before. The channel separation is even cleaner - in general, the measurement results have been amazingly fine thanks to the high-quality internal power source. So Solo does not need a cheap external transformer, but uses a proper power cord, like big hi-fi devices.
Despite its affordable price, Solo is convincingly built, and the device is first-rate reliable. The exceptional internal beauty comes from a separate component structure, instead of the cheap combination circuits typically used in this price range. The back panel of the Solo has a balance adjustment to correct the possible channel balance difference of the sound box.
