Connect wirelessly via Apple AirPlay 2 from your MacBook, iPad or iPhone; via Google Chromecast from your Android phone, tablet or Chromebook; using Spotify Connect or Tidal Connect... well, from any device that has Spotify or Tidal. Join Roon; stream via Bluetooth. You can even connect your physical digital sources via coaxial or optical digital input, your analog devices (including turntables, 8-track recorders and Edison concert phonographs) via line input or a compatible adapter, and your networked devices via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
What does that mean? Basically, if it's released as a recording, you can listen to it. The entire recording. And high-resolution heaven is just a swipe of your smartphone away.
The Focus 50 is designed for living rooms. It’s built for those who want to share incredible sound with their loved ones (invite them over and connect them… but good luck getting them to leave). That’s why we’ve also included WiSA streaming. The Focus 50 can connect wirelessly to your TV (and therefore everything else connected to it) and take the place of a bulky AV receiver/cable reel/equipment stand. The only downside? Your cat can no longer warm up to the amp…
Simple installation, powerful performance
We'd be surprised if setup took more than five minutes from opening to listening. Simply plug the speakers into a power outlet, open the included Dynaudio app, follow the guided setup instructions (which will connect you to your network and help you optimize your speakers), and that's it.
Each speaker has three Class D amplifiers: a 110W unit for the Cerotar tweeter, a 280W amplifier for the neodymium midrange and a 280W amplifier for the twin Esotec+ woofers (which are driven in parallel). They all come from our partners Pascal in Copenhagen – the same company we’ve worked with to create the powerhouses for our awesome Core professional studio systems. Peak power, you ask? A whopping 1000W. The Focus 50s – and your ears – are in good hands.
All this power is driven by advanced DSP (digital signal processing) technology – the same type we use in our Core and LYD-pro ranges. During setup, you tell the speakers in the app where they are located in the room (near a wall, in a corner or in free space), and they optimise their performance for that location. And if you (or your installer) want to take calibration to the next level, there’s optional Dirac Live technology for full-scale customisation.
We've even added custom EQ presets that take into account whether or not a magnetic grille is installed... and you don't have to do anything to activate them (except install the grille, of course). The speaker's auto-sensing technology understands when the grille is on or off - and the 'Y' shaped light briefly glows blue to let you know it knows. Brilliant.
And to prevent speaker damage at high volumes, we've designed a custom-designed sliding low-pass filter that reduces bass movement as the volume increases. (Although your neighbors will probably be knocking on the wall long before that happens.)
Traditional Dynaudio expertise
We're always excited to incorporate new cutting-edge technology across our range, and the Focus 50 draws heavily on the techniques and technologies used in our top-of-the-line Contour and Confidence passive hi-fi ranges.
For example, the Cerotar soft dome tweeter utilizes Confidence's Hexis inner dome. This ingenious addition sits behind the sound surface to optimize airflow and minimize unwanted resonances. Behind it is a strontium carbonate Ferrite+ magnet system that maximizes sensitivity. In Finnish, that means smoother, clearer treble that's more enjoyable to listen to for longer.
The tweeter is complemented by a separate midrange driver (the only one of its kind in the Focus range), derived from the award-winning Contour 60. It’s a 15cm driver with a powerful neodymium magnet, a fibreglass voice coil frame and Dynaudio’s signature aluminium voice coil. This lightweight and agile driver uses lightweight magnet and voice coil materials to achieve greater agility while maintaining tight control over the midrange frequencies. For you, that means Contour-level performance.
Designed for life
No unnecessary gimmicks or nonsense – just pure, elegant Danish design and craftsmanship. Anodized brushed aluminum driver frames, a subtle Dynaudio logo at the top of the speaker grille, and a softly glowing light (which changes color to indicate the speaker’s status) ensure that the Focus 50 fits perfectly into the right living space.
Run your fingers over the beautiful open-grain Blonde Wood and Walnut Wood surfaces, or marvel at the glassy sheen of the glossy black and glossy white lacquer. Admire the gently tapered shape of the case. Even the back panel has received special attention.
