The 9000A is intended to be connected between a line-level stereo sound source and two active speakers. The controller is equipped with 3.5 mm stereo connectors, of which the male (plug) is the signal input connector and the female (jack) is the output connector. The 3.5 mm plug fits directly into most MP3 players and computer sound cards, and with the conversion cable also into RCA connectors (the conversion cable is not included in the delivery of the 9000A).

A Y cable is needed between the 9000A and the speakers, with a 3.5 mm stereo plug at one end and RCA or XLR connectors corresponding to the speaker's signal connectors at the ends of the Y's branches. Such a cable is part of the delivery content of Genelec 6010A speakers, cables suitable for other models and of desired length can be obtained from Genelec dealers.

The cable for the 9000A's input and output terminals is Y-shaped: starting from the regulator, a one-meter-long paired cable, then splitting into a two-meter-long branch.

The regulator is available in two color versions: black and white.
