Genelec F Two B active subwoofer
New model now available in the Audio store!
The connectivity of the new models has improved thanks to the coaxial and optical digital audio connection, the maximum sound pressure is higher and the functionality of the remote control is wider. The subwoofers' new electronics also include new power sources and a few additional functions controlled by DIP switches.
The F-series subwoofers, designed in collaboration with designer Harri Koskinen, entered the market in 2012. Tailor-made to support and expand the bass reproduction of the G-series two-way active speakers, the subwoofers have from the beginning offered, in addition to their elegant appearance, excellent sound quality, high sound pressure, and quality and reliability comparable to Genelec's professional models.
The addition of digital input connectors alongside analog connectors corresponds to the development of modern streamers, televisions and sound cards, where the proportion of digital audio connections has increased.
Renewed F Two subwoofer
In addition to the digital input connectors, both models have analog RCA (2 pcs) and 3.5 mm stereo jack connectors for the two main channels and an RCA connector for the LFE channel. The output connectors for the main speakers are two RCAs in both models, and the F Two also has two symmetrical XLR connectors. F Two also has a Link output connector (RCA), which can be used to chain several subwoofers together. The bass control of the subwoofers divides the signal of the main channels at a frequency of 85 hertz, the lower frequencies remain for the subwoofer to reproduce and the higher frequencies are sent to the main speakers via the output connectors.
Two digital sound sources and one analog can be connected to the subwoofer's input connectors at the same time. Selecting the sound source between these works automatically or using the buttons on the remote control. The analog RCA and 3.5 mm input connectors are connected in parallel, so the selection does not work between them. Of course, you can connect different sound sources to both and use only one at a time.
The new F-series subwoofers come with an RF remote control that can be used to adjust the volume of the entire system, select between sound sources connected to the subwoofer, and turn the subwoofer on, off, and mute. Subwoofer control can also be taught to the IR remote control of most TVs and other devices. A third way to control the system's volume is with the optional Genelec wired remote control.
The electronics of the F-series subwoofers have been completely renewed: instead of the traditional transformer, there is a power source suitable for different voltages and alternating current frequencies, and the new D-class amplifiers are Genelec's own design. New functions that improve the usability of the subwoofers include the selection of automatic power-on (ISS) and response sensitivity adjustment and the new HT (Home Theater) setting, which adjusts the subwoofer's sensitivity to maximum and prevents volume adjustment via the subwoofer's own remote control. This setting is intended for a situation where a sound source with its own volume control, for example a home theater receiver, is connected to the analog input jacks, and you want to use it to control the volume.
