Description
GLM Genelec Loudspeaker Manager
The first version of GLM software was introduced in 2006. Since then, GLM has been helping audio professionals calibrate and use Genelec speakers. The GLM software is constantly evolving. Now GLM takes a new, significant step. GLM includes cloud service features, sound level reference calibration according to loudness standards and numerous other improvements.
If the mixes you make in your studio don't work in other environments, your studio acoustics may have created distortions in the playback of your monitor speakers that give a false impression of the content of the recording. High-quality mixing is not possible unless the reproduction of the monitor speakers is neutral and truthful.
GLM helps to effectively utilize the advanced signal processing technology of Genelec's SAM series speakers and subwoofers. The SAM collection has expanded greatly and includes speakers from the tiny 8320 to the massive 1236. GLM analyzes the influence of listening mode using the measurement microphone included in the control network adapter package. After this, the GLM AutoCal automatic calibration unifies the sound levels of the speakers and subwoofers, equalizes the delays caused by distance differences, adjusts the phase matching of each subwoofer and removes the effect of room acoustics on the frequency responses of the speaker and subwoofer. It is possible to further edit the calibration files and settings manually. With GLM, you can easily create several calibrations optimized for different usage situations. GLM's effective room correction produces excellent stable and reliable monitoring, where making high-quality mixes is possible.
The GLM Genelec Loudspeaker Manager package includes the GLM System Operating Manual, quick installation guide, GLM Network interface with built-in microphone amplifier, USB cable, Network cable, Genelec 8300A calibration microphone and holder. The package also includes AutoCal - Genelec's fully automated acoustic calibration tool.
NOTE! The GLM is compatible with previous Genelec Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) models (8200 and 7200 series, 7261SE) and supports the 8300-416 control network adapter. The GLM is not compatible with the older 8200-416 adapter or analog Classic Series active speakers and subwoofers.
GLM you can…
-
Calibrate and control networks of up to 45 SAM active speakers and subwoofers.
-
Effortlessly create and use speaker configurations from stereo to modern immersive 3D sound systems.
-
Assemble and customize speaker systems according to your specific needs.
-
Utilizes GLM AutoCal auto-calibration to create neutral and reliable audio monitoring. AutoCal evens out speaker volume differences and placement delays, adjusts subwoofer phase, and calibrates the frequency response of each speaker and subwoofer.
-
Adjusts the frequency response profile to suit your usage needs.
-
Sends your GLM measurement data to the cloud-based support service, Cloud Helpdesk. You will receive expert advice and guidance.
-
Calibrate the monitoring sound pressure in accordance with the requirements of the loudness standards, for example ATSC A/85 and EBU R128, easily and without separate measuring devices.
-
Uses the GLM Cloud cloud service anytime and anywhere, for example to store measurement and setting files.
-
Sets the volume to display on the relative (dB) or absolute (dBFS) sound pressure scale. You can also use the optional wired or wireless controller to adjust the volume.
-
Create settings files, for example, according to different listening positions or speaker configurations, and activate them with a couple of clicks.
-
Create settings modified by their frequency response and using different signal formats in the same settings file in different groups.
-
Work more efficiently and reduce listening fatigue thanks to accurate and reliable playback.
