The technology developed for KEF's high-end loudspeakers, including the latest generation of Uni-Q elements and their metamaterial technology (MAT) is now available in the new R series. The KEF R6 Meta speaker has two 165 mm bass drivers placed around the Uni-Q driver. In addition to the center speaker, the R6 Meta also works perfectly in the LCR (Left-Centre-Right) setup.
Normally, the horizontally placed elements of the center speakers cause limited horizontal dispersion (ie the sound is only heard well in a certain place). Uni-Q technology avoids this and the horizontal dispersion is significantly better than other similar configurations.
The R6 Meta speakers use a revolutionary meta material that absorbs 99% of unwanted sounds behind the treble element. The material and maze-like structure eliminates the resulting distortion and produces a cleaner, more natural sound.
The speakers use the 12th generation Uni-Q element. The new element combined with the metamaterial produces a cleaner sound with less distortion and coloration, which is more transparent and truer than before.
