Monitor Audio's new Platinum 200 3G is the smaller floorstanding speaker in the manufacturer's new flagship series. The new Platinum 3G series culminates Monitor Audio's 50 years of experience in manufacturing high-quality and technically well-maintained speakers. The new Platinum 200 3G is a purebred 3-way floor speaker, as part of its development, Monitor Audio also released new versions of its reference series MPD and RDT elements. The new Platinum series speakers offer an eye-catching fine finish and sound quality that will bring a smile to your face.
With the help of two 6″ RDT III elements, the Monitor Audio Platinum 200 3G offers a deep and dynamic bass reproduction that reaches up to 25Hz in a normal room. The new 4″ RDT III midrange element is seamlessly matched to both the MPD III treble and the two 6″ RDT III bass elements of the speaker. The middle tones of the Platinum 200 3G are reproduced cleanly, offering an excellent cut-through to the most sensitive hearing area in terms of the human ear, the tones of the soloists are reproduced with palpable authenticity and presence. The crown of the whole is the distinguishing and brightly sounding treble, which, however, does not fall on the cold, clinical and lifeless side in its tone. The whole works with a wide variety of music as well as movies.

Platinum 200 3G utilizes RDT III bass/midrange and MPD III treble developed for the series. These elements represent the absolute top of the market in terms of features and performance.
RDT III is a composite material that offers an extremely rigid and light cone, compared to the previous generation RDT II elements, the distortion values of the new RDT III element have decreased even more, while the element's sensitivity and power duration have increased. The RDT III is a cone formed by a honeycomb carbon fiber frame and C-CAM metal alloy sprayed on the surface, which works like an optimal piston. The light and stiff construction enables dynamic, fast and distortion-free playback even when using high volumes.
The mass of the MPD III tweeter is a fraction of the mass of a traditional dome tweeter, despite this, it has a significantly larger functional surface area (about 8x larger than a traditional one-inch dome). The treble reproduction reaches up to 60kHz and all reproduction colorations that are negative for the reproduction have been pushed far above the human hearing limit, the shape of the treble, combined with the rectifier fitted in front of it, guarantees a consistent directional pattern and an excellent adaptation to the speaker's bass/midrange element. Due to its large functional surface, the MPD III tweeter is also able to produce high sound pressures without compression and high distortion.

The speakers of the Platinum series use a multi-layered and strongly supported housing structure, which achieves an excellently rigid and acoustically dead housing. When the housing vibrations do not color the signal to be played, the end result is more faithful to the recording. Gorgeous real wood veneers and multi-layered piano lacquers produce a finish that can withstand presentation even in slightly prettier environments. Despite its relatively compact size, the Monitor Audio Platinum 100 3G weighs 15.2 kg each.
