Extremely powerful and good-sounding amplifier
In 1990, Musical Fidelity made the first ever "Super" Integrated Amplifier, the Musical Fidelity A1000. The amplifier was very well received and even today they sell second hand for considerably high prices.
The Musical Fidelity M6si500 is the latest and greatest of its kind!
Technical performance
The M6si500 delivers a whopping 500W per channel into 8 ohms. It is very stable and extremely linear. Distortion is also very low; around 0.008% @ 1 kHz and 0.015% @ 20 kHz. More notable, however, is its extremely low distortion at ultra-high frequencies: @ 30 kHz, it is 0.02% and @ 50 kHz it is 0.02%.
The M6si500 is unconditionally stable and can easily drive any speaker due to its ample power reserve.
Most amplifier manufacturers only talk about 1kHz distortion. We believe this is only part of the story. From Musical Fidelity's perspective, an amplifier's distortion must be very low in the 20Hz - 20kHz range, in other words, the entire range of our hearing.
The M6si500 features digital volume control. This ensures perfect monitoring even at low volumes. When the M6 500i is turned off, it remembers the previous volume setting for the next listening session.
The M6si500's playback is effortlessly smooth and dynamic. It doesn't sound "loud" but feels realistic. Dynamics are handled without drama or fuss. No distortion; just pure music.
Musical Fidelity has done its best to make the M6si500 as good as it can be. It has huge reserves of power, very low distortion, excellent linearity and a high-quality aesthetic construction.
