C 399 Hybrid Digital DAC Amplifier, C 389 Hybrid Digital DAC Amplifier, C 3050 Stereophonic Amplifier, C 379 HybridDigital DAC Amplifier
NAD Electronics is proud to announce the next generation of its innovative modular design, a future-proof technology that allows NAD component owners to add exciting new features simply by performing a software update and sliding a hardware module into the rear panel MDC slot. The modular design features an all-new architecture that enables bi-directional communication between the module and the host component, providing significantly expanded upgrade options.
NAD's first MDC2-compatible component is the C 399 HybridDigital DAC amplifier. The module, MDC2 BluOS-D, adds Dirac Live room correction and BluOS multi-room music streaming to all of the compatible products listed above.
The weakest link in most audio systems is the listening environment. Room conditions can cause a rumbling and uneven bass response, and reflections from room surfaces can muddle transients and disrupt stereo imaging. Dirac Live analyzes the room acoustics and then loads compensation filters into the MDC2 BluOS-D module. The MDC2 BluOS-D module corrects peaks and dips up to 500 Hz, the range where room conditions are most problematic. A full-bandwidth license for Dirac Live is available as an optional extra. Dirac Live also optimizes the impulse response by analyzing how sounds reflect off room surfaces.
With Dirac Live enabled, listeners can enjoy significantly improved bass clarity, imaging and tonal accuracy across all sources. The MDC2 BluOS-D module can store up to five Dirac profiles for different listening positions or room conditions – for example, whether the curtains are open or closed.
The MDC2 BluOS-D module is NAD’s first module to enable Dirac Live room correction in a two-channel component – a testament to the versatility of the MDC2 platform. It comes with a calibrated microphone for performing room measurements.
The MDC2 BluOS-D module includes BluOS, a multi-room high-resolution streaming platform that is praised for its versatility and ease of use. With the MDC2 BluOS-D module, owners of the C 399 and future MDC2-compatible components can access hundreds of internet radio stations and over 20 streaming services, including several that offer lossless and high-resolution audio. The MDC2's bidirectional architecture allows users to share audio from any source with up to 63 other BluOS-compatible components on the same network.
Playback can be controlled using the intuitive BluOS Controller app, available for iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows; voice commands from Alexa or Google; and smart home control systems such as Crestron, Control4, Lutron, and RTI. Like all BluOS devices, the MDC2 BluOS-D module supports high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz and is capable of MQA hardware decoding and rendering.
The MDC2 BluOS-D module features the latest Wi-Fi and Ethernet protocols, as well as two-way Qualcomm aptX HD Bluetooth. It supports Apple AirPlay 2, Siri voice control, Spotify Connect, and Tidal Connect. Listeners can also play music from their own libraries stored on an external drive connected to the MDC2 BluOS-D module's USB port.
The MDC2 BluOS-D module offers a wide range of options for playing local, networked and cloud-based content throughout your home. With its two-way communication architecture, the MDC2 platform is ready for innovations that haven't been invented yet.
* The MDC2 BluOS-D module includes a Dirac Live license, and advanced users can upgrade to the Dirac Live Full Frequency version.
