Grounded, powerful power supply for Pro-Ject DC turntables
Every turntable needs to be properly grounded, otherwise electrical hum can occur. If the turntable is not properly grounded, it may have a different reference potential than the amplifier it is connected to. As a result, these potential differences cause a compensating current that can be heard as hum.
That's why all good turntables have a separate ground cable that can be connected to standard amplifiers or sound card amplifiers, which usually have a ground terminal. This way, the different potentials are equalized and the hum is no longer audible.
However, many modern amplifiers, especially those used in soundbars or streaming speakers, do not have a ground connection. These systems are called "floating ground" systems. If a standard turntable is connected to such a "floating ground" amplifier, an audible hum will result.
That's why we designed the High Power it 2 power supply. The High Power it 2 is a three-pin power supply with ground connection for Pro-Ject turntables, eliminating ground-related hum problems, especially in amplifiers with floating ground and no actual ground connection. In addition, the High Power it 2 provides cleaner power and more power for all Pro-Ject 15 V DC turntables.
