The Pre Box RS2 Digital is the big brother of the award-winning and groundbreaking Pre Box S2 Digital. It uses the same high-quality DAC circuitry as the S2 version, proving once again that the Pre Box S2 Digital was already a top-tier DAC and far ahead of its competitors. Based on the same core design principles, the features have been expanded and taken to the next level. The result is a fantastic-sounding and extremely versatile device – the perfect companion for top-tier amplifiers and speakers!

The Pre Box RS2 Digital is a DAC and preamplifier that utilizes a dual-channel configuration of ESS Sabre's top-of-the-line D/A converters. The ESS9038Q2M chips deliver top-notch sound quality at a high-end price. Unlike most DACs in this price range, the Pre Box RS2 Digital features dual DACs and separate signal paths for the left and right channels. Thanks to these converters, the device supports up to 32-bit/768 kHz PCM and DSD files (up to DSD512) via USB, allowing for playback of all purchased and streamed digital files.

The analog output works with both solid-state and high-quality tube buffers, so the user can choose the option that suits them. The Pre Box has eight digital filters, one of which is the MQA developers' own optimized transient filter. These filters allow the listener to customize the sound to their own preferences. The Pre Box RS2 Digital fully supports MQA technology (Master Quality Authenticated) in both hardware and software.

The Pre Box's USB inputs are processed by a powerful multi-core XMOS microcontroller based on an advanced Multi-Core RISC architecture. The re-clocking process uses an Altera CPLD MAX II (Complex Programmable Logic Device) chip, which together with the XMOS microcontroller enables high-quality signal processing for both traditional and MQA technology. To optimally utilize this technology, it is recommended to connect the Pre Box to the Stream Box S2 Ultra with the TIDAL service.

You can also enjoy MQA quality by combining it with our revolutionary new CD transporter, the CD Box RS2 T. The CD Box RS2 T can be connected to the Pre Box via a reliable I²S differential bus via the HDMI connector, allowing the Pre Box RS2 Digital to also act as a master clock (16.9344 MHz).

The headphone amplifier is a perfect design. No compromises. No coupling capacitors. Not even at the output. The entire amplifier is directly connected (DC-coupled). A very fast DC servo ensures that there is no DC voltage at the output. Its output power is suitable for all types of headphones.

The package includes a premium all-aluminum remote control, and the Pre Box RS2 Digital is available in a high-quality silver or black aluminum housing. The large display on the front shows all the essential information in an easy-to-read, clear and structured format. Navigating through the menu is very fast and responsive, so you can adjust the device to your preferences in seconds!
