The T2 improves on the acclaimed T1 model in a sensible way, offering many new audiophile features, setting new standards for players in this price range.
Audiophile Entry Level Turntable
High-quality materials and an elegant, larger CNC-machined body are the foundation of the T2 model. It is available in three stunning finishes: glossy black, matte white or walnut. Its construction is completely plastic-free, and the high-quality materials and precise manufacturing process eliminate any cavities in the body, effectively preventing unwanted vibrations. In addition, the T2's glass platter has been made heavier and thicker compared to its little brother to ensure a more stable speed and resonance-free playback. There are no colorations in the sound caused by the use of plastic or light metals, as they have not been used in the structure. These improvements complement each other, and the carefully selected damping feet effectively isolate the instrument from environmental vibrations.
Speed control, motor and motor control
The T2 uses the same motor and belt drive as the T1. The motor’s power is transmitted via a belt drive to a redesigned washer, made exclusively for the T-series models. This washer is mounted on a precision-machined main bearing with a 0.001mm tolerance, featuring a hardened steel shaft and brass bushing. Most competing products use cheap DC motors with large speed fluctuations, while the T2 uses our typical electronically controlled, high-speed AC motor. The T2 also features electronic speed change.
Sumiko Rainier MM sound box
The Pro-Ject T2 turntable is equipped with a factory-installed and tuned Sumiko Rainier MM cartridge (retail price €179) with an elliptical stylus; this high-quality cartridge combined with a fine turntable preamplifier provides enjoyable playback from vinyl records!
New tonearm and anti-skating
The T2 tonearm features a longer arm tube. Its straight, 9-inch effective length and rigid aluminum construction and one-piece construction create the optimal tonearm. It also features new, upgraded low-friction precision bearings designed to accommodate the increased length and arm tube diameter. In addition to its clean and sleek appearance, the integrated cartridge carriage does not introduce any extra resonance and is a huge improvement over removable, screwed or glued cartridge carriages! The T2 also features a brand new adjustable spring-loaded anti-skating mechanism that allows you to easily optimize the performance of your cartridge.
Semi-balanced turntable cable
Like the T1, the T2 also comes with highly shielded, semi-balanced, low-capacitance turntable cables specially designed by Pro-Ject. Pro-Ject does not use standard RCA cables, but a cable specifically designed for turntable use. A dust cover and felt mat are also included to protect your records.
The T2 has gold-plated RCA output connectors and is wired to enable fully balanced signal transmission, like in more expensive Pro-Ject models. By upgrading the cartridge to an MC type or to the Pick It PRO Balanced model developed by Pro-Ject, a fully balanced signal can be utilized. In addition, a suitable cable from our True Balanced collection and, for example, a Phono Box S3B or Phono Box DS3B preamplifier are required. These allow you to utilize the advantages of balanced signal transmission, which are particularly great for turntable use: less interference and noise, more dynamics, cleaner percussion sounds, and therefore a better musical experience. The new 9“ tonearm and adjustable antiskating enable the compatibility of many high-quality MC cartridges with the T2.
