Description
Pro-Ject T2 Super phono
Audiofile Entry Level Turntable
The T2 Super Phono sensibly improves on the formula of the acclaimed T1 model, offering many new audiophile features. It sets new standards for instruments in this price range.
Audiophile Entry Level Turntable
High-quality materials and an elegant, larger CNC-machined frame are the foundation of the T2 model. It is available in three stunning finishes: gloss black, matte white or walnut. Its structure is completely plastic-free, and the high-quality materials and precise manufacturing process eliminate any cavities in the frame and thus effectively prevent the occurrence of unwanted vibrations. In addition, the T2's glass turntable has been made heavier and thicker compared to its little brother to ensure a more stable speed and resonance-free playback. There is no coloration in the sound caused by the use of plastic or light metals, because they have not been used in the structure. These improvements complement each other and the carefully selected damping feet effectively isolate the instrument from environmental vibrations.
Speed control, motor and motor control
In T2, the motor and belt drive are the same as in T1. The power of the engine is transmitted via a belt drive to a redesigned undercarriage made exclusively for the T series models. This washer is mounted on a high precision 0.001mm tolerance machined main bearing with a hardened steel shaft and brass bushing. Most competing products use cheap DC motors with large speed variations, whereas the T2 has our typical electronically controlled, precision-speed AC motor. The T2 also has electronic gear shifting.
Unprecedented quality integrated turntable stage
The T2 Super Phono features a high-quality two-stage split passive MM turntable preamp - originally introduced in the acclaimed T2 W. Because the T2 Super Phono has more space for the circuit board, we have been able to improve the design and component placement significantly. The T2 Super Phono is a turntable with an unprecedented high-quality RIAA preamp built in and the sound quality to match. The turntable preamp can also be switched off if you want to use the MC sound box on the T2 Super Phono. A high-quality Sumiko Rainier MM sound box (sale price €179) is delivered pre-installed, which makes this a real hi-fi turntable without compromises.
Sumiko Rainier MM sound box
The T2 Super Phono is equipped with a factory-installed and adjusted Sumiko Rainier MM sound box (retail price €179) with an elliptical needle; with such a high-quality sound box combined with a great turntable pre-amplifier, you get an enjoyable playback from a vinyl record!
New tone arm and anti-skating
The tone arm of the T2 is equipped with a longer arm tube. Its straight, 9-inch effective length and rigid aluminum construction and one-piece construction make for an optimal tonearm. It also features new upgraded low-friction precision bearings designed with the increased length and stem tube diameter in mind. In addition to a clean and stylish appearance, the integrated soundbox carriage does not cause any extra resonances and is a great improvement over detachable, screw-on or glued-on soundbox carriages! The T2 also features a brand new adjustable spring-loaded anti-skating mechanism that allows you to easily optimize the performance of your speaker.
Semi-balanced turntable cable
As with the T1, the T2 Super Phono also features highly shielded, semi-balanced (balanced), low-capacitance turntable cables specially designed by Pro-Ject. We don't use basic RCA cables, but a cable we designed specifically for record player use. Also included is a dust cover and a felt mat to protect your records.
