We are delighted to introduce the beautiful Pro-Ject XA B turntable as the latest addition to the X-Series. Acrylic has always been a part of Pro-Ject's history. Using acrylic in turntables is not as easy as you might think, but we took on the challenge and once again the result is a great-sounding and beautiful, yet affordable turntable.
The new XA B features a 10-inch aluminum tonearm paired with a pre-installed Pick it PRO Balanced MM cartridge.
The delivery includes a high-quality acrylic dust cover, Connect It E Phono 5P / RCA cable and Record Puck E record clamp.

For 33 years, we've been developing turntables that focus on sound over features, but we're not afraid to experiment to achieve even better sound.
These turntables were examples of how we combined the special appearance of acrylic with the benefits of acoustic damping.
Using acrylic is not as easy as you might think. High internal damping is a good feature, but to achieve the perfect sonic result, all parts of the turntable have to work together. From measurements and listening tests, we know that acrylic can dampen the turntable too much, resulting in a very dry sound image. The aluminum tonearm and platter, as well as the compatible Pick it PRO Balanced cartridge, combined with special feet, make the XA B lively and convince with a dynamic and detailed sound image.
Developing an acrylic turntable is more complex, but we took on the challenge once again. The result is a turntable that sounds and looks great, yet is affordable.

The XA B turntable features a premium 10-inch aluminum tonearm with a massive bearing structure. The ultra-low-friction 4-needle tonearm bearing ensures precise, stable and accurate tracking. We use a solid aluminum tonearm tube instead of a carbon fiber tube, as aluminum complements the sonic properties of acrylic. The full aluminum tonearm stand offers true audiophile features. It allows you to adjust both azimuth and vertical tracking angle (VTA). Adjusting and experimenting with VTA and azimuth is crucial to getting the most out of your cartridge.
As the side pull removal force varies between the inner and outer grooves of the vinyl record, our side pull removal mechanism adjusts accordingly.
The TPE insert decouples the counterweight from the tonearm and reduces resonances.
The precision gimbal bearing with 4 stainless steel tips offers very low friction and the best stability.
The new Pick it PRO Balanced cartridge is a revised version of the Pick it PRO, enabling "True Balanced" signal transmission. In collaboration with Ortofon, we developed a balanced MM cartridge - the first of its kind! The great advantage of a balanced connection is its ability to eliminate received noise and interference. Connect It E Phono cables don't improve your audio system, but they do ensure that every detail and information in the signal is transmitted to the receiving device. The included Connect it Phono E 5P / RCA is a high-quality turntable-optimized cable. We've focused on high-quality core materials, such as copper conductors, for lossless signal transmission.
The thick 1.7 kg die-cast aluminium turntable is re-machined and precisely balanced in an extra step to create the perfect turntable. The heavy aluminium turntable has a ring made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) on the inside, which helps to dampen all resonances and thus minimise wobble and vibration. The included Record Puck E provides additional damping and stability. It uses weight to hold the playing vinyl record against the turntable's platter. By keeping them as close together as possible, the turntable's sound reproduction improves in terms of timing and depth of sound.
The new XA B stands on three height-adjustable, cushioned feet that provide perfect support for the player. The three feet provide added stability on uneven surfaces, as a perfectly level turntable is essential for truly high-end sound reproduction.
In all our turntables we use a "cheap looking" switching power supply. We do this by using a precision DC-driven alternator inside the turntable to power the motor. This way we create a completely clean new sine wave. This ensures very clean power, which improves the stability of the rotation speed.
Your turntable equipment needs clean, stable power. The included power supply is already a good foundation, but we want to go further. Pro-Ject Power Box S3 Phono provides power for the XA B and also for the Pro-Ject turntable preamplifier. Its two outputs are specifically designed to power ProJect turntables and turntable preamplifiers. Sophisticated DC filtering can dramatically affect sound quality. In addition to its sound quality-enhancing features, the Power Box S3 Phono also offers its users a cleaner cable solution, avoiding power supply and cable clutter.
