The Absolute Sound - 2024 Editors' Choice Awards
Like the other Confidence series speakers, the Confidence 50 also has a new Esotar3 tweeter. New neodynam magnet design, optimized air flow technology and Hexis structure take the sound to a new level.
Everything centers around the new DDC (Dynaudio Directivity Control) damper, a stunning precision machined waveguide around the brand new Esotar3 tweeter. The DDC lens is simulated and optimized to focus the treble, midrange and bass elements vertically in the listening position. The result is dramatically reduced floor and ceiling reflections - meaning you hear exactly how the speaker sounds.
The new 18cm Neotec MSP bass element also uses neodymium magnets and voice coils reinforced with fiberglass, which guarantee optimal stiffness. The voice coils themselves are copper, which provides efficient and more controlled bass. The woofer motor is designed to harness airflow with an innovative new ventilation system machined directly into the magnet.
The Confidence 50's brand new MSP midrange element is a big step up from previous Dynaudio models. Horizonta design has been used in the elements. This reduces the first resonant mode of the suspension mode to effectively increase the total playing surface and improve performance. They are mounted flush with the front plate to reduce diffraction from the diaphragm and adjacent tweeter.
Everything is held securely in place by a very stiff, highly damped and acoustically inert Compex composite front plate. It reflects the design of the previous Confidence series, but is nevertheless completely updated. This is because it is an integral part of the DDC system and provides complete connection and disconnection of the elements from the housing.
