A redesigned floorstanding speaker with immersive sound
The new KEF LS50 Meta speakers use a revolutionary metamaterial that absorbs 99% of unwanted sound behind the tweeter. The material and labyrinthine structure eliminate the resulting distortion and produce a cleaner, more natural sound.
The speakers use the 12th generation Uni-Q driver. The new driver, combined with the metamaterial, produces a cleaner sound with less distortion and coloration, which is more transparent and realistic than before.
The appearance and performance of the enclosure have also been refined. The LS50 Meta's low-diffraction, curved front panel is precisely modeled around the Uni-Q driver. Its smooth curved surfaces help sound radiate across the front panel without the hard edges creating diffraction. The internal support and damping of the enclosure have also been improved.
The LS50 Meta's patented offset reflex port opening and profile reduce turbulence, and flexible port walls prevent resonances from coloring the midrange. This results in improved clarity with exceptional depth and detail. All of this results in a cleaner, more accurate sound.
This is probably the best compact passive speaker available now.
