Pro-Ject Cork&Rubber It
New disc mat from Pro-Ject!
The material is a combination of cork and rubber. Thickness 1 or 3 mm. Suitable for all turntables with a platter diameter of 300 mm.
The effect of vinyl carpets on sound has been debated throughout the ages. Commonly used felt mats are a good alternative in terms of sound quality, but static electricity is often a nuisance. The felt mat collects a lot of dust, which can transfer to the plate. The damping capacity of non-felt is also quite low, which can be a problem with steel plates. The thick rubber mats, on the other hand, absorb too effectively, and isolate the board electrically, which can also lead to problems with static electricity that can be heard as clicks in the sound.
Leather It ,
Cork It and Cork & Rubber are all different but interesting ways to improve the sound of your turntable. They dampen resonances more effectively than felt, but do not insulate too effectively.
So which is the better option? The structure of the turntable and what sounds better to your ear is the deciding factor. Either way, these are an inexpensive way to improve sound and reduce static and dust problems.
