TOROIDAL TRANSFORMER
The toroidal transformer is known for its superior performance in Hi-Fi products, and that's why it was also chosen for the AS 2200 amplifier.
Its ability to sustain energy, combined with other features of the A-S2200 amplifier, brings all the artist's emotional energy to the listener.
THICK GROUND WIRES PRODUCE LOW IMPEDANCE
A natural and open sound image is achieved with top design and component choices. The thick ground wires are purposely chosen to produce a low-impedance amplifier, which achieves a wide and open sound field for the listener.
PC-TRIPLE C
The A-S2200 model uses high-end PC-triple C cables for the device's internal speaker cabling. The result is a very fine-resolution lower register, a musical sound image and a tight and controlled bass reproduction with power and dynamics.
QUALITY SPEAKER CONNECTORS
The screw terminals and the specially designed parts are made by cutting from pure brass, and they ensure a tight wire connection without reducing the sound quality. The screws shaped to fit the fingers firstly look good, secondly they are easy to tighten and open with little force.
MECHANICAL GROUNDING CONCEPT
A mechanical grounding concept that includes welding the device legs directly to the device body, large cooling elements, an efficient transformer and capacitors attached directly to the body. This implementation can eliminate unwanted vibration and achieve an expressive rhythm to the music.
RENEWED APPLIANCE FEET
To complement the rigidity of the amplifier body, the A-S2200 is equipped with heavy-duty, redesigned brass feet.
Floating and balanced power amplifier & MOSFET transistors
The basic structure of the power amplifier circuit follows Yamaha's own, specially developed floating and balanced power amplifier technology. The plus and minus sides of the output stage have components of the same polarity, and the NFB (negative feedback) circuit and the power supply stage are perfectly isolated for the left and right channels into four different plus and minus sides - this gives the output stage a completely symmetrical shift phase. "Floating" the entire power amplifier stage off the ground eliminates any negative interference that small voltage fluctuations and background noise could cause. The MOSFET transistors of the output elements bring warmth and naturalness to the sound. Their polarity is the same on the plus and minus sides, which contributes to the ideal perfectly symmetrical structure and eliminates the variations in sound quality caused by polarity differences. This is exactly a significant feature of a floating and balanced power amplifier. The end result is a sound with a superior signal-to-noise ratio and a very precise sound field.
Separate design, balanced signal transmission and low impedance design in all power stages
In the A-S2200 amplifier, a completely separate structure has been achieved for bypassing the control circuits, as the tone control circuit is completely isolated from the signal system. It has a positive effect on the response and the speed of voltage change, as a result of which high frequencies are reproduced more vividly, fuller and more evenly. Signal transmission and signal amplification utilize fully balanced signal transmission in a balanced structure throughout, including the system control circuit. The signal loss during transfer is significantly less, because the preamplifier unit and the power amplifier unit have used screw-type fastening solutions and thick wires. This is central to signal transmission and the structure between the power stage and speaker connectors. These solutions improve the damping factor, the capacity of the elements and the damping power of the speakers. The result is lively and efficient bass reproduction.
High-end electronic volume control for ideal sound reproduction
The A-S2200 model uses a high-quality digital volume control developed for this purpose by New Japan Radio Co. Ltd. It only has ladder-type resistors, which eliminates voltage drop and the effect of sound coloration. The result is a cleaner sound and excellent, fast response to large volume changes and sharp transients.
The symmetrical structure aims for ideal stereo sound reproduction
The left-right symmetry of the structures in the power supply and power amplifier parts enables high-quality separation of left and right channels - which is very important for high-quality two-channel stereo sound reproduction - and optimal weight distribution. The frame has a precisely adjusted edge-to-edge frame and renewed metal legs (for which you can choose spikes or cushions). They give the device good mechanical rigidity and enable stable placement, which significantly reduces the effect of external vibration on the sound quality.
A stand-alone record player amplifier
The turntable amplifier has a separate MC preamplifier and EQ amplifier. With them, you can hear the full, wonderful sound of vinyl records when using both MC and MM boxes.
Separate headphone amplifier
The separately constructed headphone amplifier part has excellent control and damping properties. The level trimmer reacts to different impedances. The superior sound quality of the A-S2200 amplifier is therefore also enjoyable through headphones.
Visualization of music dynamics with level meters
The front panel of the A-S2200 amplifier has level meters that enable you to enjoy music visually as well. The quick, precise movements of the pointers are illuminated by a beautifully warm LED light. In addition to volume, the meters can be selected to show peak values. The protective plate of the meter is precisely fitted to the frame.
Stylish design
The sophisticated design and construction of the A-S2200 amplifier speaks of Yamaha's appreciation for great craftsmanship. The attitude stems from a long tradition as a manufacturer of world-class musical instruments. The metal front plate and wooden side panels are beautifully joined together using state-of-the-art processing techniques. The machined aluminum controls feel and look stylish.
A beautifully finished remote control
The remote control repeats the metallic design language of the aluminum panel amplifier. The buttons are conveniently and logically arranged for use. The volume and input source selectors control not only the A-S2200 amplifier but also the Yamaha CD player.
