Yamaha's history as a manufacturer of musical equipment stretches back more than 100 years, to 1887, when a young entrepreneur, Torakusu Yamaha, manufactured a high-quality organ harmonium. The company he started also built Japan's first piano. Success grew and in 1904, Yamaha's piano and organ were awarded the Honorary Grand Prize at the St. Louis World's Fair.
Yamaha's love for music later also transferred to music reproduction, and it is one of the world's largest and best-known manufacturers of sound reproduction systems. Yamaha's Hi-Fi product range currently covers almost all equipment in the industry: high-quality amplifiers, CD players, tuners and speakers.
