Audison APX5 is a low-profile 5.25″ 2-way coaxial speaker
Audison APX coaxials have been designed to be easy to install in the original car locations. The embedding depths of the elements are very reasonable and in all (except APX 69) models the tweeter is embedded in the middle of the midbass cone. With these speakers you will never have the situation where the tweeter catches on the car's original speaker grille. In terms of sound quality, the midbass cone acts as a guide for the tweeter and the sound quality is good even in more difficult installation locations.
The acoustic deflector in front of the tweeter helps to get a flat response even when listening off-axis. This is a great thing when installing coaxials, as very few cars have speaker positions directed towards the listener. You can see a good example of this in our installation story where APX coaxials are installed in the door at ankle height. Nevertheless, the high-end response is excellent when measured from the driver's seat (and also when listened to!).
The speakers' characteristics have been fine-tuned using Klippel optimization. The sensitivity of the speakers in the APX series is very good, so you can easily play the speakers with just an instrument. But the power handling is also enough that you can get a lot more kick with an amplifier anyway.
