APX 4 is a coaxial element, which means it has a treble in the bass-midrange throat, so the speaker works as a single-point radiator. The advantage of this is better phase reproduction than separate sets, because all the sounds come from the same starting point, unlike in traditional sets where the treble and middle sound work separately from each other. Thanks to the three-part suspension, the movement deviation has been exceptionally large considering the size of the element.
Characteristics
1. Concentric tweeter element: the tweeter is mounted in the woofer's throat. This achieves an excellently coherent playback without the typical phase errors that plague separate sets.
2. The tweeter is equipped with an acoustic lens that is precisely designed to produce an extremely flat frequency response even when directed past the listening point.
3. The voice coil made of 32 mm pure copper with its excellent power durability produces unshakable control at bass frequencies.
4. Due to the low installation depth, the speaker is suitable for easy installation in the original places of the car.
5. The water-repellent treated paper bass cone is modeled with computer aid using FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation and finally optimized with Klippel Scan Vibrometer.
6. Top suspension made of thermoplastic polyurethane with a three-piece structure allows for a large movement deviation at bass frequencies.
7. The compact body structure is coated with a scratch-resistant material and the motor of the element is attached to it with a vibration-damping epoxy compound.
8. The durable speaker terminals are protected with heat-resistant plastic covers.
9. Developed with the KLIPPEL software package.
