Cambridge Audio Alva Duo
Duo is an excellent quality MM and MC preamplifier for turntables. The models that preceded the duo (e.g. 651P and CP2) enjoyed an outright cult reputation among vinyl enthusiasts. Duo has been improved in many ways and for the first time also includes a high-quality headphone amplifier! The Duo's measurement results are downright amazing in this price category, which is due, for example, to the well-designed internal transformer. The Duo does not need a cheap external transformer, but uses a proper power cord, like big hi-fi devices.
Despite its affordable price, Duo is convincingly built, and the device is first-rate reliable. The exceptional internal beauty comes from a discrete component structure instead of the cheap combination circuits typically used in this price range. The rear panel of the Duo has a balance adjustment to correct the possible channel balance difference of the sound box.
