In the upper part you will find the jewel in the crown: the brand new Esotar 2i tweeter. We looked at the older Esotar 2 from the 2016 Contour, took it apart and realized we could give it a boost with some technology from our flagship range: the Hexis construction from the Confidence series and the larger rear chamber from the Core Professional studio monitors. Together, these upgrades help reduce unwanted resonances and smooth the frequency response for a more defined treble.
The Contour 60i is the only model in the series with a dedicated midrange driver. It uses an aluminum voice coil and also has a neodymium magnet system - all developed and optimized in Denmark at Dynaudio Labs . It's actually the exact same midrange driver we used in the 2016 Contour 60. If it's not broken ... The difference is how it's fixed. We have used the technology of the Core series here. If there's one thing you can never have too much of, it's mid-range clarity, and the Contour 60i now has even more.
The two bass elements are new. Both have a larger magnet system and a redesigned voice coil that was used for the first time in the Confidence series and the Sub 6 subwoofer. This means even tighter bass at higher volumes. We have chosen copper instead of aluminum as the material for these. Why? Because they only reproduce bass frequencies. Copper is heavier and offers more moving mass. The larger moving mass allows us to dig deeper bass without interfering with the midrange. The distribution filter is also brand new.
