Description
JVC DLA-NP5 4K home theater projector
The JVC DLA-NP5 D-ILA home theater projector has a full-fledged HDMI 2.1 4K120p input, which reproduces the image quality of the full 4K resolution (4096 x 2160 pixels) at its best. The 4K120p input also makes the projector ideal for gaming combined with Low Latency mode. The projector is driven by three 0.69-inch original 4K D-ILA sensors and a 17-element, 15-group glass lens with a diameter of 65 mm. The high-resolution technology and lens project the image into every corner of the screen sharply and with a brightness of up to 1900 lumens. The projector is compatible with the latest HDR10+, HLG and Frame Adapt HDR with Theater Optimer formats.
JVC has continuously developed its well-respected D-ILA technology. The latest models, including the DLA-NP5, feature genuine 0.69-inch 4K D-ILA devices, technology first seen in the flagship DLA-Z1. The manufacturing process of the cells has been further developed in terms of planarization and to optimize the reflection efficiency in order to achieve greater contrast and brightness. In addition, the control circuits were substantially improved to simultaneously manage each three (R/G/B) 4K D-ILA devices at the demanding 120 frames per second. The combination achieves accurate and balanced 4K native image projection.
A high-quality glass lens is an essential factor in the final result
The NP5 model uses an exceptionally high-quality 65mm glass lens, which consists of 17 elements and 15 groups.
Frame Adapt HDR
The Frame Adapt HDR function allows any HDR10 content to be played dynamically and in high resolution.
The color classification of HDR content varies, and some of the HDR content is adjusted to lean towards light, while some is adjusted towards darker. Using JVC's original algorithm, Frame Adapt HDR instantly analyzes the peak brightness of HDR10 content frame by frame and adjusts the projector to the optimal dynamic range in real time. In addition, the accuracy of the gamma processing of gradients has improved dramatically from 12-bit to 18-bit.
All of these advancements help bring out deeper blacks in darker scenes and brighter highs in bright scenes, without compromising on color. Most importantly, the image is repeated in even tones, which better matches the reality seen by the human eye. (* projector firmware must be version 3.10 or later).
HDR10+ enables two dynamic tone mappings
When you want to play back rich HDR video footage, including an extended brightness range, a wide BT.2020 color gamut and 10-bit tones, you can count on the NP5 to get the job done expertly. The new models support all HDR formats, including HDR10 for Blu-ray discs and streaming, HLG, and the latest HDR10+ signal format with dynamic metadata compatibility.
JVC DLA projectors are compatible with HDR10+ and Frame Adapt HDR with two dynamic tone mappings. HDR10+ contains metadata defined by the authors for each scene separately, while Frame Adapt HDR analyzes the brightness of HDR10 content lightning fast using a unique algorithm.
4K120p support is ideal for low-latency gaming
The DLA-NP5 is equipped with a 4K120p HDMI input. The latency of the signal is extremely small, so the game image produced with a high refresh rate gets its rights in a special way on a giant screen. The exceptionally low delay in displaying PC and game console images improves the player's ability to react to the fast-paced events of games.
Features:
-
4K D-ILA technology produces exceptional JVC image quality.
-
The high brightness of 1900 lumens enables a lively and dynamic image.
-
Deep black and high contrast: native 40,000:1 / dynamic 400,000:1.

2 HDMI inputs according to the latest HDMI 2.1 standard (48 Gbps, HDCP 2.3), which support 4K120P image signal.
HDR10+ knows how to play dynamic video precisely in accordance with the metadata defined by the creators
Frame Adapt HDR dynamically maps each HDR10 content image or scene at a time and automatically makes adjustments so that the image corresponds as closely as possible to the perception ability of the human eye. As part of Frame Adapt HDR, the projector offers better gamma processing accuracy from 12 to 18 bits, which produces smoother and more accurate tonal reproduction.
-
The new theater optimization function in Frame Adapt HDR mode offers the optimal HDR picture by analyzing the operating environment, e.g. screen size and gain.
-
The Auto Tone Mapping function automatically adjusts settings to achieve optimal HDR10 picture quality.
-
For ease of use, the projector automatically switches to HDR picture mode when HDR10 signals are received.
