The C22 Mk V vacuum tube preamp is a direct replacement for the acclaimed C70 Limited Edition 70th Anniversary preamp. It has all the performance of the acclaimed C70 in the C22's signature exterior with an aluminum front panel.
The amplifier uses one 12AT7 and five 12AX7A vacuum tubes, which are visible through the glass panel on the top of the amplifier. Knobs and Rocker switches operate all control functions, while modern LED lights indicate input selection and volume. The C22 Mk V has two balanced inputs, three unbalanced inputs, one Moving Coil input and one Moving Magnet phono input, for a total of seven inputs. There are two pairs of balanced and unbalanced output connections; both outputs allow signals to be sent to two separate power amplifiers.
The bass and treble tone controls are located on the front panel and can be adjusted in 2dB increments using the rotary knob. In addition, the impedance and capacitance of the phono inputs can also be adjusted with a separate rotary knob. In addition to setting the listening level, the volume control can be used to adjust the relative volume of the left and right audio channels. The 6.35mm headphone jack with Headx Crossfeed Director (HXD) technology is powered by McIntosh's High Drive headphone amplifier.
With Power Control technology, you can connect the amplifier to up to four ports on other McIntosh devices, such as a CD player or turntable, and turn them on and off. There are also data ports on the device and you can use them to control the basic functions of the connected McIntosh devices with the supplied remote control.
The C22 Mk V sits atop a stunning polished stainless steel frame and features the timeless illuminated McIntosh logo, adjustment knobs and aluminum end caps. With its retro-styled black glass and aluminum front panel construction, this preamp fits any McIntosh sound system from any era.
