C2700 preamplifier with McIntosh's very famous tube technology. In addition to McIntosh's well-established vacuum tube topology, the C2700 also features the advanced DA2 Digital Audio Module technology, which combines state-of-the-art digital music capabilities with time-tested vacuum tube performance.
The DA2 is the successor to the popular DA1 Digital Audio Module technology with an expanded number of features. The DA2 offers 7 digital inputs, including all the same DA1 connections (2 coax, 2 optical, 1 USB and 1 MCT), as well as a new audio-only HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). TVs with compatible HDMI (ARC) output can be connected to the C2700 so you can enjoy TV sound through your McIntosh music system. The amplifier supports popular multi-channel Dolby and DTS audio formats, expertly converted to 2-channel audio for playback. You can control the power and volume of the C2700 when CEC communication is enabled on both the amplifier and your TV. In addition to these new HDMI (ARC) features on the DA2, its USB input has increased DSD playback support up to DSD512, compared to the DA1's DSD256 limit.
The DA2 is equipped with a next-generation audiophile-quality Quad Balanced, 8-channel, 32-bit D/A converter, which is experienced as an improvement in both dynamic range and total harmonic distortion compared to the DA1. The DA2's coaxial and optical inputs can decode digital music up to 24-bit / 192kHz for high-resolution audio playback. McIntosh's exclusive MCT input provides a protected DSD connection to any MCT series SACD/CD player to get the best possible sound quality from your SACDs.
For analog music, the C2700 has 9 inputs consisting of 3 balanced inputs, 4 unbalanced inputs, 1 Moving Coil and 1 Moving Magnet phono input. With a total of 16 inputs, the C2700 has practically an infinite number of inputs for connecting all music sources. The amplifier's dual platform design keeps the analog and digital parts separate to prevent signal errors.
