Prepare for the future of digital music technology with the C49 preamplifier. The C49 has McIntosh's DA1 Digital Audio Module, which can be replaced with new modules as digital audio technologies develop. So you can keep your amplifier up to date with digital music formats and viable in the future as well.
The C49 has numerous inputs. For analog, it has 2 balanced and 3 unbalanced, and 2 phono inputs (1 Moving Coil and 1 Moving Magnet) for connecting turntables. On the digital input side, it has 6 inputs for the DA1 module, 2 coaxial, 2 optical, 1 USB and 1 MCT (for use with SACD / CD players). The DA1 (upgradable to the DA-2 Digital Audio Module) features an 8-channel, 32-bit D/A converter used in Quad Balanced mode and supports up to DSD256 and DXD 384kHz for high-resolution audio playback.
The amplifier has 2 balanced variable outputs, 2 unbalanced variable outputs and 1 unbalanced fixed output for connection to an amplifier and other sound systems. Your sound sources can be fine-tuned with the bass and treble controls. The C49 can be seamlessly integrated into your home theater system via Home Theater Pass Through. Power control ports allow easy power on/off of other connected McIntosh components, while data ports can send remote control commands to connected source components. The amplifier also includes a High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD).
The C49 is one of several McIntosh products to receive the Roon Tested designation from Roon Labs. Both Roon and McIntosh have profiled and tested it for maximum compatibility. Roon recognizes it and sends it a sound optimized for its characteristics. Roon Tested devices are automatically identified and configured to ensure the best customer experience.
