Description
McIntosh MA352 integrated 2x200W hybrid amplifier
The integrated MA352 is a new hybrid amplifier from McIntosh. The big brother of the unimaginably popular MA252 offers massive power, while maintaining its little brother's incredibly sensitive and beautiful approach to music reproduction. The MA352 combines the best of tube amplifier and transistor technology to create an ensemble that is both visually and sonically breathtaking.
"The MA352 measures up well in all areas. It has massive power with vanishingly small distortion, and not a single weak spot. A stunning amplifier in terms of sound quality and dynamic power. Visually attractive on top of that." Complete 5 "globes". - Hi-Fi World
Our integrated amplifiers combine the design and performance of world-famous amplifiers and preamplifiers in one space-saving unit. No matter which McIntosh model you choose, you will be rewarded with decades of legendary McIntosh listening pleasure.
The MA352's preamplifier uses two 12AX7a and two 12AT7 tubes, housed in stylish protective cages. The power stage is a direct-coupled solid-state amplifier that delivers 200 watts per channel into 8 ohm speakers or 320 watts per channel into 4 ohm speakers. In unbiased tests, the actual power has been measured even higher - more than 500 watts into a 4 Ohm load, and otherwise the device convinces with an almost perfect power cube. This is a wild performance, however, for a relatively inexpensive reference class integrated amplifier.
As a completely analog implementation, the amplifier has three RCA inputs, two balanced XLR inputs and one phono input reserved for the record player suitable for MM boxes or high-voltage MC boxes. Thanks to the preamplifier output, it is easy to add a separate terminal or an active subwoofer to the amplifier - why not two. The Home Theater Bypass function bypasses the volume adjustment for the input you select (automatically when the Trigger input is activated), so you can easily use the amplifier as an output amplifier for the main channels of a home theater amplifier. All inputs can be given their own name for ease of use. A 5-zone tone control that preserves full sound quality helps you fine-tune the reproduction according to personal preferences or the needs caused by the room space.
The MA352 has "everything needed to be an instant classic". - Audio Review
Other McIntosh technologies found in the MA352 include Sentry Monitor™ and Power Guard™ for speaker and amplifier protection, as well as an excellent High Drive headphone amplifier with HXD® capability. Solid gold-plated connections complete the convincing whole. Input selection, tone bypass, channel balance and volume between inputs can be adjusted with the front panel knobs or the included remote control; all settings and input selections are displayed on the amplifier's OLED screen. The iconic blue meters hypnotize the listener to the beat of the music signal. All the technology sits atop a beautiful polished stainless steel body, with a classic McIntosh-style die-cast aluminum badge affixed to either side.
