Bring your home theater dreams to life with the MC257 7-channel power amplifier. Experience the latest blockbusters and your favorite movies at home the same way you would in a cinema. The MC257 features a striking new TripleView current output meter that independently displays the real-time power reading of the amplifier's three front channels. Instead of three separate meter windows, this model has three traditional mechanical meters in one housing on the easy-to-read 38cm wide TripleView screen. Although this is a completely new design, all three highly responsive pointers have the same attractive movement and sure-fire functionality that McIntosh meters are known for. The TripleView gauge's glamorous look, welcoming glow and trademark blue lighting can be turned off so it doesn't compete with a TV or movie screen.
In addition to the new instrument cluster, the MC257 has received many other performance-enhancing upgrades to deliver an unforgettable movie experience in your home theater. The filter capacity has been increased by 20%, which has increased the dynamic headroom by up to 94% from 1.7dB to 3.3dB, improving the performance of low frequencies. When using only the left, center and right channels, the power has increased by 25% from 200 watts per channel to 250 watts per channel. With all 7 channels in use, 200 watts of power is delivered to each. Regardless of the number of channels used, all 200 or 250 watts are delivered to either 4 or 8 ohm speakers via McIntosh's Dynamic Power Manager technology.
The combo of the McIntosh MX170 A/V Processor and MC257 7-Channel Amplifier "checked all the performance-related boxes when it came to signal Integrity and immersion. Also, clarity and Dynamics were off the charts... It had an amazing surround Bubble that put me in the center of the action. This soundscape featured pinpoint imaging of all the discrete effects. The overall clarity, dynamic punch, and low distortion of the sound were above reproach." – SECRETS of Home Theater and High Fidelity
The MC257 runs cool and quiet thanks to five McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks connected to advanced high current output transistors that effectively cool the amplifier. The speaker connectors have been upgraded with gold-plated binding posts to prevent corrosion and ensure a high-quality signal is sent to your home theater speakers. Traditional McIntosh knobs adorn the front panel for controlling the meter lights and power function. A direct LED backlight has been added to the front panel to improve color accuracy and durability. An environmentally friendly power management system turns off the amplifier after a certain period of time when no input signal is detected.
