The MC2kW monoblock amplifier is designed to exceed the requirements of a real and natural reproduction level. It can deliver up to 2000 watts of continuous power and 8000 watts of peak power to 2, 4 or 8 ohm speakers. But power alone is only the beginning of the story.
The unique design of the MC2kW has three modules. Two 1000 watt terminal modules each contain half of the circuits and a power supply. The output module has input and output connections, a meter and a terminal module and it also functions as a control center. The amplifier features McIntosh's Quad Balanced design, which while generating such power eliminates almost all noise and distortion that may have entered the audio signal. What remains is a clean signal that, even at high amplification, is still as clean as when it entered the amplifier from the preamplifier.
Other McIntosh technologies are also included in this amplifier. The world-renowned McIntosh Autoformer ensures that your speakers always receive full power regardless of their impedance, while the Power Guard prevents clipping that can damage them. There are three sets of speaker connections. The Sentry Monitor is a fuseless short-circuit protection circuit that shuts down the output stage before the current exceeds a safe operating level. After the operating conditions return to normal, the Sentry Monitor automatically returns to the initial stage. Both balanced and unbalanced inputs are available to help connect other systems. The large, blue wattmeter is not only mesmerizing to look at, but also provides a quick and accurate reading of the amplified signal.
All three modules are housed in a beautiful polished stainless steel base that complements McIntosh's classic glass front panel, knobs and brushed aluminum handle.
