Enjoy hours of listening pleasure with the MCD600 SACD/CD player. At the heart of the MCD600 is a newly designed digital circuit with a new premium 8-channel, 32-bit PCM/DSD digital converter (DAC). The DAC is used in Quad Balanced mode, with 4 DAC channels allocated to the left and right audio channels, resulting in truly exceptional sound reproduction. Sampling frequency of all PCM signals up to 32-bit/384kHz.
In addition to CD and SACD, popular file formats such as AAC, AIFF, ALAC, DSD (up to DSD128), FLAC, MP3, WAV (up to 24-bit/192kHz) and WMA are supported, which can be played from a user-created CD, DVD from a disk or a USB memory stick. The USB input is conveniently located on the front panel for easy use.
The MCD600 includes both fixed and variable balanced and unbalanced outputs; variable outputs combined with volume control allow the MCD600 to be connected directly to an amplifier without a preamp. Coaxial and optical digital outputs are also included if you want to send a digital audio signal to an external processor for analog conversion. In addition to digital outputs, there is also a coaxial and optical digital input for connecting other digital sources. And for those looking for a completely personalized listening experience, the High Drive headphone amplifier section has been improved in terms of gain and output power. The headphone amplifier is optimized for practically all types of headphones.
The MCD600's die-cast aluminum chassis, together with an advanced digital servo, offers faster, quieter and more precise operation. All common disc types can be played, including SACD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW (MP3 and WMA). The audio data on the disc is read at twice the speed, which ensures better disc tracking and error correction. Dual laser optics ensure optimal disc reading. Power management and data ports integrate the MCD600's operating mode with other McIntosh system components.
The outer shell is McIntosh's familiar polished stainless steel frame, black glass front panel, illuminated logo and aluminum end caps. The front panel has a new direct LED backlight, which improves the appearance of the instrument. The top of the player has a glass panel that lists performance data and a block diagram.
"The Sonic result was quite, quite beautiful. The music flowed soft, smooth and clear with a rich and resonant tone from the vocal pairing." - The Audiophile Man
