Description
McIntosh MHT300 8K AV Tuner Amplifier
Purposeful cannon - 7x150WThe McIntosh MHT300 AV receiver is an uncompromisingly built 7.2 (or 5.2.2)-channel home theater powerhouse that ensures rich sound reproduction when connected to a high-end speaker system. The MHT300 supports breathtaking 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video and the leading home theater surround sound formats Dolby® Atmos and DTS:X™. The built-in amplifiers produce 120-150W of legendary McIntosh power.
Impressive power to all speakers, all the time
Don't be fooled by the apparently high power values of inexpensive AV amplifiers, as often the fine print indicates that these powers only apply to one or two channels and measured with high distortion. The measurements of the MHT300 apply to all seven channels, with low distortion and in use at the same time. That means each 4-ohm speaker gets 150 watts and each 8-ohm speaker 120 watts of electrifying McIntosh power to bring all your favorite movies and multi-channel concert recordings to life.
Space for expansion according to needs
The MHT300 can grow with your home theater as its individual amplifier modules can be configured in many different ways to suit your speaker setup. If one day your home theater grows beyond seven speakers (not including subwoofers), additional external amplifiers can be connected to the MHT300, supplying power through the Height 1 and Height 2 audio outputs. An external amplifier, such as the 4-channel McIntosh MI254 power amplifier, is connected to these outputs to drive additional speakers. This makes the MHT300 compatible with a 7.2.4-channel speaker system.
On the other hand, even if you don't add more speakers to your home theater, you can always increase the quality power. For example, if you decide you want even more capable amplification for the front speakers, you can add an external stereo terminal (such as the McIntosh MC312) to your system and connect it to the MHT300 by simply removing the front and main amplifier connecting plug-in for those channels, and connecting the external terminal to the freed-up preout jack.

Using advanced algorithms, Dirac Live offers world-class room correction with patented filtering technology that takes into account time domain and phase repetition. However, Dirac Live is easy to use, as its intuitive user interface and step-by-step guidance enable quick deployment and versatile personalization.
Connectivity and functionality
The MHT300 is just the ideal combination of equipment and robust technology for most installations. In other words, the money is put where it belongs in the best sound quality. The MHT300 has 4 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output. Each HDMI port is HDCP 2.2 compatible and supports 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz image technologies.
The HDMI output has an eARC function (enhanced Audio Return Channel). Thanks to the Audio Return Channel feature, a compatible TV can send audio to the MHT300 using the same HDMI cable that brings the image from the sources connected to the amplifier, eliminating the need for a separate audio connection. eARC offers a wider bandwidth, so high-resolution audio formats such as DTS-HD Master Audio™, DTS:X®, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Atmos can be received from compatible TVs. There are also two coaxial and 2 optical digital audio inputs to which you can connect other audio devices. 2 subwoofer outputs give you as much bone-crushing bass as you want in your theater.
Seven premium 32-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) provide audiophile-grade processing. Bass and treble controls are included to fine-tune the sound to your personal preferences. Sturdy 5-way speaker terminals securely connect speaker cables.
Easy installation
Installation and configuration is easy to perform from the computer screen. To save time, your CI installer can pre-configure the device before bringing it to your home, and download the configuration file during installation. Similarly, the configuration file can be backed up to a computer or USB memory stick for safe storage; you can then worry-free try different settings, confident that you can return the settings to a previously proven state if necessary. The MHT300 can be operated with the included remote control, or your integrator can easily connect it to your home automation system using the RS232 control protocol.
The MHT300 is a work of art that can be placed at the center of your home theater for all to enjoy, but can also be tucked away in an A/V equipment shelf thanks to the included rack mounts and 3U shelf size.
Other features of the MHT300 that are unique to McIntosh:
- Power Guard® signal overload sensor that prevents speakers from being overdriven and damaged.
- Sentry Monitor™ short-circuit protection circuit that shuts down the output stage if the current ever approaches a dangerous operating level and automatically recovers when operating conditions return to normal.
- Power Control automatically turns other connected McIntosh components on and off.
- Eco-friendly on/off signal detection, which turns the device off if no input signal has been detected for a certain amount of time, and - perhaps even more conveniently - turns the MHT300 on automatically when it detects a signal from your home theater equipment.
- FM tuner for enjoying radio broadcasts.
The MHT300 AVR features many McIntosh design features, including a black glass front panel, an illuminated McIntosh logo, quality control knobs, and a familiar design accented by silver bezels.
