Description
McIntosh MSA5500 integrated amplifier
The MSA5500 integrated amplifier is both a versatile music streamer and a powerful integrated amplifier in one package. It can serve as the cornerstone of your audio system, whether it's your first foray into high-fidelity audio, or an upgrade to a system already equipped with significantly higher-quality stereo speakers. Beautifully designed and surprisingly compact, the MSA5500 is tailored to meet all the demands of a modern stereo amplifier. It's the ideal choice for those looking for premium McIntosh sound in a smaller space.
The MSA5500 is compatible with a range of leading streaming technologies and platforms, including Apple® AirPlay®, Bluetooth®, Google Cast™ (formerly Chromecast), Spotify® Connect and TIDAL® Connect (including TIDAL HiFi Lossless Quality). No special control app or technical skills required; the easy-to-use MSA5500 simply invites you to stream music directly from your mobile device. If you’ve ever listened to music on typical “wireless” speakers, listening to your favourite tracks through the MSA5500 will be like hearing them again for the first time.
For Bluetooth streaming, the MSA5500 uses Bluetooth 5.0, the high-bitrate Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) standard, Qualcomm® aptX™ HD for high-resolution audio, and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, a robust solution that delivers high-resolution, drop-free audio over Bluetooth. Two Wi-Fi 6 antennas and one Bluetooth antenna provide stable wireless connections, and an Ethernet port is also available for wired connections.
To enhance your digital music listening experience, the MSA5500 features a high-quality DAC (digital-to-analog converter) that converts digital signals to analog. This next-generation Quad-balanced, 8-channel, 32-bit DAC has a huge dynamic range and low distortion. Regardless of the file format, you can expect convincing audio reproduction. The MSA5500 has been Roon Ready certified by Roon Labs, making it a device that can be used with the Roon music server. Roon brings all your music together and adds a wealth of information - reviews, photos, lyrics, tour dates and cross-linked information about artists, songwriters, producers, engineers and composers. Roon Ready-compatible devices have Roon streaming technology built in and are certified by Roon to provide the highest possible quality and performance for streaming.
In addition to all the streaming capabilities, the MSA5500 also features 7 digital and 5 analog audio inputs for connecting a variety of audio sources, including a CD player, tuner, and turntable with a Moving Magnet (or High Output MC) cartridge. The digital inputs support high-resolution digital audio playback; the USB input supports native playback of DSD512 and DXD up to 384 kHz, while the coaxial and optical inputs can decode digital music up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
HDMI (ARC) input lets you connect a compatible TV to enjoy your favorite shows and movies with sound quality that TV speakers or soundbars can't deliver. Popular multi-channel audio formats from Dolby® and DTS® are expertly converted to stereo for proper playback. Subwoofer output allows you to add a powered subwoofer.
The MSA5500's exquisite design is complemented by time-tested McIntosh technologies such as Power Guard®, Sentry Monitor™, Trigger-controlled home theater switching, High Drive headphone amplifier and Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD®) for headphone listening, as well as high-quality gold-plated speaker terminals. Classic McIntosh aesthetics such as blue, long-life LED-illuminated watt meters, black glass front panel with aluminum end caps, signature control knobs and illuminated logo ensure the joy of ownership.
