The MT10 combines McIntosh's classic black glass front panel look with truly high-performance mechanics to create a ready-to-use turntable. The factory-preset tracking force, anti-skid and sound box placement can guarantee maximum performance with minimal installation effort.
The body of the record player consists of stainless steel and an acrylic turntable. This unique combination of different materials provides a resonance-free foundation for the tonearm. The massive acrylic plate, weighing about 5.4 kg and about 6.35 cm thick, rotates on an air cushion, raised by a magnetic bearing.
A regulated power supply powers a very quiet brushless Swiss DC motor. The instrument's amazing accuracy is due to the new electronic speed control, which has 1595 strobe markings per platter revolution. The speed adjustment to 33 1/3, 45 or 78rpm is done from the front panel and its current speed is displayed with a backlit McIntosh meter.
The custom tonearm features a rigid, dural aluminum tube fitted with two sapphire and two ceramic bearings for the lowest possible friction. Also included is a .5mV MC sound box with an ebony body and elliptical needle.
