The McIntosh MT2 Precision Turntable offers superior performance and accurate playback by combining the latest turntable technology and design. The MT2 is a great way to upgrade your sound system to play vinyl records. Thanks to the features honed to perfection, all recordings can be reproduced with flawless realism. Its advanced electronic and mechanical design gives you many years of smooth and trouble-free operation.
MT2 plays both 33-1/3 and 45rpm discs. In practice, it is ready to use after just a few configuration steps.
An MC sound box is included, which, thanks to its high output voltage, also works in the MM turntable stage. The sound box's high impedance and output voltage guarantee noise-free music playback. This unique design features an alloy needle shaft and an elliptical diamond needle for exceptional tracking. The tonearm is made of dural aluminum with special damping materials and is light but very stiff. The noiseless vertical bearings have two precision ceramic surfaces with damping fluid. The horizontal bearing is a rounded sapphire structure.
The belt-driven solid black turntable is made of special dynamically balanced polyoxymethylene (POM) and is over 1 inch / 2.54cm thick. This rigidity helps to both resist and absorb external vibrations that can cause extra noise during playback. The high mass of the turntable also provides the perfect flywheel action for consistent playback speed. The inner plate is made of precision ground aluminum. The plates rotate on a polished and hardened steel shaft in a sintered bronze sleeve. The DC motor is controlled by an external voltage-stable power source and is completely detached from the chassis, isolating all mechanical interference. The frame is resonance-optimized compressed wood with a black lacquer finish. Comes with a clear, molded dust cover.
A "well built, great sounding record player" that's "made for people who love vinyl... rich sound, solid bass and comfortable sound balance." - Lyd & Bilde
