Description
McIntosh RS150 audio system
The RS150 is a great and reasonably priced way to dive into McIntosh's legendary sound quality and aesthetics for the first time - or, of course, extend the McIntosh feel you may already experience in your listening room to other rooms. The moderate size of the RS150 allows the device to be placed almost anywhere in the home or office.
The successor to the popular RS100 loudspeaker, the RS150 has received several thoughtful updates. The most important of these is the general improvement of the use and control of the speaker. Since the RS150 no longer needs a dedicated control app, it can be conveniently controlled directly from major streaming applications that use standard streaming technologies. With Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Chromecast and Roon Ready, you can easily stream to the RS150 from your smart devices.
Thoughtful improvements
The RS150's power has almost doubled from its predecessor: the woofer now benefits from a 90-watt amplifier and the tweeter from a 30-watt amplifier. At the same time, the bass element has been upgraded from 4 inches to 5.25 inches; this, together with a larger and sturdier housing, produces more power with less distortion and a deeper reach. There is an intelligent adjustment for the bass level, which ensures that the speaker is suitable for the acoustics of the location and your listening preferences.
Studio-quality sound reproduction and versatile ease of use
The RS150 is compatible with TIDAL HiFi 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res playback of high-resolution digital music files (up to 9216 Kbps). The RS150 also functions as a Roon Ready terminal. RS150 uses modern version 5.0 technology for Bluetooth connections. It supports both the high-bitrate Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) standard and Qualcomm aptX HD for high-resolution audio playback. It also includes the Qualcomm aptX Low Latency feature, which dramatically reduces audio delay. Apple AirPlay 2 is also supported, which offers multi-room capability and improved sound quality - for example, set several RS150 and RS250 to play the same music in different rooms.
RS150 can be connected to the home network wired with an ethernet connection or wirelessly with standard Wi-Fi connections. In addition to Apple Siri, it is Google Assistant compatible to enable voice control.
Conqueringly stylish
The RS150 includes McIntosh's new digital output power meter. This meter is more than a simple LED indicator. The fast-response meter uses the same trusted circuitry as McIntosh's analog meters to detect audio signals and process data; however, the results are digitized and printed as a pulse-like bar that follows the curved shape of familiar analog meters. The implementation is modern, attractive and very durable.
The RS150 exudes classic McIntosh design elements, such as a black glass front panel, illuminated logo and comfortable controls, offering a unique joy of ownership for every day and mood.
