The RS250 is McIntosh’s most advanced and powerful lifestyle speaker system. The RS250 is integrated with all the major streaming technologies, including Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Chromecast and Roon Ready. With all of these built-in technologies, you can easily stream to the RS250 from your smart devices. The successor to the popular RS200 speaker system, the RS250 doesn’t require a dedicated control app on your mobile device; instead, it can be conveniently controlled directly from music apps that use compatible streaming technologies.

Older analog audio sources have also been taken into account - thanks to the MM Phono connection, you can connect your turntable equipped with an MM or High Output MC cartridge without a separate preamplifier.

TV and movies with decent sound

The RS250 also includes an HDMI ARC connection, so you can take your TV and movie listening experience to a whole new level. You can connect an older TV using an optical cable. In either case, it's really convenient to use, as the TV's volume control controls the RS250 speaker system - either automatically with the ARC connection, or in the case of the optical connection, by teaching the TV remote control volume commands to the RS250.

Innovative speaker array in a compact device

The RS250 delivers 650 watts of McIntosh power, harnessed to the power of eight drivers. The driver array includes two 4x6-inch woofers, four 2-inch midrange drivers, and two ¾-inch tweeters. A subwoofer jack allows you to connect an external active subwoofer to supplement the low octaves, although most listeners are unlikely to need more range than the powerful RS250 can provide on its own. The subwoofer enclosure has been redesigned to minimize distortion, and a user-friendly control has been added to the device to customize the bass response.

Studio-quality audio and versatile ease of use

The RS250 is compatible with TIDAL HiFi 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res playback of high-resolution digital music files (up to 9216 Kbps). The RS250 also functions as a Roon Ready device. For Bluetooth connections, the RS250 uses modern version 5.0 technology. It supports both the high-bitrate Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) standard and Qualcomm® aptX™ HD for high-resolution audio playback. It also includes Qualcomm aptX Low Latency, which dramatically reduces audio latency. Apple AirPlay 2 is also supported, offering multi-room capabilities, Siri voice control, and improved sound quality.

The RS250 has an optical input for connecting digital sources, such as older TVs. An MM phono input and an AUX input with a 3.5mm stereo plug allow you to connect analog music sources. A standard 6.3mm headphone jack conveniently located on the front panel allows for personal listening. The RS250 can be connected to your home network wired via Ethernet or wirelessly via standard Wi-Fi connections. It is also Google Assistant compatible for voice control.

Captivatingly elegant

The RS250 includes two new digital output power meters from McIntosh. These meters are more than simple LED indicators. The fast-responding meters use the same trusted circuitry found in McIntosh analog meters to detect audio signals and process data; however, the results are digitized and printed as pulse-like bars that mimic the curved shape of familiar analog meters. The implementation is modern, eye-catching, and extremely durable.

The RS250 is versatile enough to meet the audio needs of almost any room. It's designed primarily for streaming audio services, but has enough thoughtful features and connectivity to serve as the centerpiece of your home entertainment system.
